KTV minimum spend in Singapore — how room minimums actually work

Minimum spend at a Singapore nightlife KTV is a per-room drink commitment, not an hourly rate: the smallest rooms carry minimums from one beer tower (roughly $40–99 depending on the venue), and minimums climb with room size up to 12 towers and 4 bottles for a VIP room. Hit the minimum with what you’d have ordered anyway and the room costs you nothing extra; fall short and you still pay the floor.

Room minimums by venue and group size

Match the room to what you’d drink anyway

The trick with minimums is that per-head cost is not lowest in the smallest room. At Ruyi KTV, the two-person room requires one tower plus one bottle — $78 Tiger Crystal plus $258 Martell VSOP is $336, or $168 a head for two. The medium room (3–4 pax) requires three towers: $234, roughly $59 a head for four. Same venue, bigger room, a third of the per-head floor.

Same pattern at Ume KTV: the small room’s 2 towers + 1 bottle comes to $260 at Ume’s listed prices ($40 towers, $180 Martell VSOP) — $130 each for two people. The 10–15 pax VVIP room’s 10 towers + 4 bottles is $1,120, which lands between $75 and $112 a head at full occupancy.

So don’t book by headcount alone. Price out the minimum at your group size, and pick the room whose floor matches what your table would order regardless. If your group of four would order two towers and a bottle over a session anyway, a medium room with exactly that minimum costs you nothing beyond your normal tab.

What happens if you don’t hit it

The minimum is a floor, not a deposit. If your tab lands under it, the venue either asks you to order up to the line or bills the difference — either way you pay the minimum. There’s no refund for the gap, which is why an oversized room is the most common way to overpay: two people in Rose Gold’s large room owe six towers and three bottles whether they drink them or not. Confirm the exact minimum for your group size when you book, not when the bill arrives.

The ++ trap

Some session minimums are quoted ++ — service charge and GST added on top. Bella Bello’s $398++ night minimum for the small room works out to about $477 after the standard 10% service charge and 9% GST. That’s a fifth again on top of the sticker. When a venue quotes a dollar minimum, always ask whether it’s nett or ++; tower-counted minimums vary too, so ask the same question about the tower price.

Happy hour moves the floor

At dollar-minimum venues the discount applies to the minimum itself: Pub 28’s rooms are $200 until the happy-hour cutoff and $300 after; Bella Bello drops from $398++ to $298++. Wave Party K prices by day instead — its small room is $666 on weekdays and $888 on weekends. Tower-counted venues mostly run happy hour from late afternoon (Gala and New Lisbo from 3:30pm, Rose Gold’s runs 4–9pm), when drink prices and tips are lower even if the tower count stays the same — the same minimum simply costs less to hit. Where hostess tips apply, they’re a separate bill line: $50 per session at happy hour and $100 on weeknights at most rooms we track.

If you don’t want a minimum at all

A few floors skip the mechanic entirely. New Lisbo runs an open hall for up to ten with no minimum — unusual for a nightlife KTV — and Pub 28’s hall has none either. That’s the cheapest way to test a venue before committing a group to a room.
